Lorelai's 1st Birthday Party

Originally, our plan was to have a very low-key party with a "Maggie" cake as Lorelai loves "The Buzz on Maggie." It turns out that no one in Greenville County makes such a cake. As Dan and I perused the Internet we found a Disney Princess cake. Since the cake is a bit over the top, we decided that it would be the focal point and the decorations would be very basic. As is the case with the best laid plans, our single feature became a theme. Enjoy the pictures and the video post that follows of our little princess's party.

My mom was a huge help with the decorations. She bought this inflatable castle as a fabulous accessory. It was a huge hit, especially with Sierra!
Dan got this great balloon for his special princess to add to the decor.
The castle cake. Not only was it gorgeous, but it was exceptionally tasty!
A close-up of the princess picture frame that was on top of the cake.
My mom also bought wands to decorate. Pap and Sierra personalized several of them.

Examples of their handiwork.
Lorelai received wonderful presents from both sets of grandparents. Before the party started she got to break in her new table and chairs from Ma and Pap. She seems to love it! She sat at it quite a bit at the party.
Later that afternoon she played on the swing set from Grandmother and Granddaddy. The slide was pretty hot from being in the sun, but she did manage to go down it once before heading back inside to rejoin the party.

Sierra had a great time climbing all over it.

Checking out the Noah's Ark toy she received from Jim and Anne Young, friends of ours from church.
Ready to roll.
Getting a push from Uncle Rob. What a great smile!
Getting ready for the main event. I know she looks a bit unhappy here, but it was the only decent picture I had of her personal cake. (The other one I had taken, which was actually very good, wouldn't turn counterclockwise like I wanted it to. Go figure.)
Looking very subdued before the sugarfest begins. My Aunt Carol gave her this adorable "My First Birthday" bib.
Let the games begin!

Lorelai has started sharing recently. She gave Daddy and Mama a taste of her yummy cake.

The aftermath.
The Birthday Princess. Happy Birthday, Lorelai!
